Ab 1806 lautete die Firma Baring Brothers and Company.
Johann Baring, merchant in Bremen, Germany, founded a trading company in 1717. His two sons emigrated to London in 1762, and founded John & Francis Baring & Co. The company grew, and was beside the Rothschilds the largest Bank in London. The name was changed to Baring Brothers and Company in 1806. Risky and forbidden speculations of the futures trader Nick Leesen in Singapore created a loss of US-Dollar 1.4 billion on 26 February 1995. This caused the bankrupcy of the bank. It was later bought for 1 British Pound by ING.
