The King’s German Legion was a British Army unit of mostly expatriate German personnel during the period 1803 – 1816. The Legion achieved the distinction of being the only German force to fight without interruption against the French during the Napoleonic Wars. Under command of Major Konrad Ludwig Georg Baring the Legion defended the farmhouse La Haye Sainte in the Battle of Waterloo. The farmhouse played an important role in the battle, and saved Wellington the victory against Napoleons troops.
