 Die Firma wurde 1898 von der Union Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft, die später in der AEG aufgegangen ist, unter Mitwirkung der Union Bank gegründet. Bis 1904 firmierte die Gesellschaft als Oesterreichische Union Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft. 1946 wurde die Firma verstaatlicht.

 The company was founded by the Union Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft, which later on became AEG with the co operation of the Union Bank. Until 1904, the company operated as Oesterreichische Union Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft. In 1946 the company was nationalized.
