The company was founded on 21 March 1906. It bought the patents of the Chemist Dr. Alex Just and of the engineer Franz Hanaman.
Just and Hanaman proved, that wolfram is also suitable for electric lamps. The patens allowed the production of electric lightbulbs from
wolfram or molybdenum. The owner of the patents got 400,000 Marks in cash and 400,000 Marks in shares in exchange for the patents.
The company took over the plant of the Bayer. Glühfadenfabrik Augsburg-Lechhausen Gg. Lüdecke & Co. in 1908. The main building
and the outbuilding were destroyed completely by a fire in 1917. The reconstruction was started four years later. It was supported by the
Osram GmbH. The new building was finished in 1922. Osram held than a majority stake in the Wolfram Lampen AG and took over the
company completely in 1951. The factories of the Wolfram Lampen AG are Werk A nowadays.

Das Unternehmen wurde am 21. März 1906 gegründet. Dabei wurden die Patente des Chemikers Dr. Alex Just und des Ingenieurs
Franz Hanaman erworben. Die beiden Herren hatten 1904 nachgewiesen, dass auch Wolfram für elektrische Lampen geeignet ist. Die
Patente erlaubten die Herstellung von elektrischen Glühlampen aus Wolfram oder Molybdän. Die Inhaber der Patente erhielten 400.000
Mark in bar sowie 400.000 Mark in Aktien. 1908 wurde die Fabrik der Bayer. Glühfadenfabrik Augsburg-Lechhausen Gg. Lüdecke & Co.
übernommen. Nachdem 1917 durch einen Brand das Hauptgebäude sowie Nebengebäude vollständig vernichtet worden waren, wurde
1921 der Wiederaufbau der Fabrik in Angriff genommen. Dabei wurde die Gesellschaft von der Osram GmbH unterstützt, so dass der
Neubau 1922 fertiggestellt wurde. Osram hat sich im Zuge dessen auch die Mehrheitsbeteiligung an der Wolfram Lampen AG gesi-
chert. 1951 übernahm Osram die Wolfram Lampen AG komplett und führte es als Werk A weiter.
