Durch den Wiener Kongress von 1815 erhielt Hannover nicht nur beträchtliche Gebiete, wie etwa das Emsland oder Ostfriesland hinzu, sondern wurde auch zum Königreich erhoben. Bis zum Ende der Personalunion mit England im Jahr 1837 durfte sich der Regent als König von Hannover und König von Großbritannien & Irland bezeichnen. 1837 bestieg mit Ernst August, Duke of Cumberland, ein Bruder des verstorbenen Königs den Thron in Hannover.

This bond originally derives from the legendary collection Petsch in Hannover. Hannover did not only receive important territories like for instance the Emsland or East Friesland, but was also elevated to kingdom by the Congress of Vienna of 1815. The regent might identify himself as the King of Hannover and King of England & Ireland until the end of the personal union in 1837. In 1837 Ernst August, Duke of Cumberland, a brother of the deceased King acceded the throne in Hannover.
