 Jean Paul Getty war der bedeutendste Ölmagnat des vergangenen Jahrhunderts und galt zu Lebzeiten als reichster Mann der Welt. Im Handel mit Jean Paul Getty war der bedeutendste Ölmagnat des vergangenen Jahrhunderts und galt zu Lebzeiten als reichster Mann der Welt. Im Handel mit Ölrechten verdiente Getty schon in jungen Jahren prächtig Geld. Bereits mit 23 Jahren war Getty Multimillionär. 1921 gründete dann sein Vater George F. Getty (siehe Los 175) auf den Rat von Jean Paul hin die Oklahoma Oil und lies darin seine George F. Getty Inc. aufgehen. Durch die Aktienemission sollte die Grundlage für das weitere Wachstum geschaffen werden. Zunächst hielt Georg F. Getty die Mehrheit der Firma und fungierte als ihr Präsident. Bereits 1922 übertrug er diese Funktion an Jean Paul. Für Furore sorgte Getty als er für 9,5 Millionen Dollar Förderrechte in Saudi-Arabien erwarb. Beim späteren Verkauf kassierte er mehrere hundert Millionen Dollar. Bei seinem Tod 1976 betrug sein Vermögen rund 20 Milliarden Dollar. Getty galt bereits seit Beginn der 1960er Jahre als der reichste Mann der Welt.
History (English)
 John Paul Getty (1892-1976) was the most influential oil magnate of the past century and during his life was considered to be the richest man in the world. Even when still a young man, Getty earned huge sums in trading for oil rights. At age 23 Getty was already a multi-millionaire. In 1921 his father George F. Getty, on the advice of John Paul, founded Oklahoma Oil and thus laid the basis for his George F. Getty, Inc. The issuing of shares laid the basis for further growth. At first George F. Getty owned the majority of the firm and acted as its president, but by 1922 he had transferred this function to John Paul. Getty caused a sensation when he obtained exploration rights in Saudi Arabia for $9.5 million. A subsequent sale of these rights gained him several hundred million dollars. At his death in 1976 his fortune amounted to about $20 billion. From the beginning of the 1960s on he was reputed to be the richest man in the world. The illustrations on the stock certificate are interesting; they already illustrate what Getty later integrated in Getty oil - exploration for oil, refining, storage, and transport.
