The canal company was incorporated in 1793. It built and operated the 145 kilometres long canal. The canal ran from Brentford at the
Thames to Braunston, where it terminated in the Oxford-Canal. The canal was bought by the Regent’s Canal company in 1927. It forms
the southern half of the Grand Union Main Line from London to Birmingham. The canal is mainly used by leisure traffic now.

Die Kanalgesellschaft wurde 1793 gegründet. Sie baute und betrieb
den 145 Kilometer langen Kanal. Der Kanal beginnt in Brentford an
der Themse und mündet bei Braunston in den Oxford-Kanal. 1927
wurde die Gesellschaft von der Regent’s Canal Company übernom-
men. Der Kanal bildet die südliche Hälfte der Grand Union Main Line
von London nach Birmingham. Heute verkehrten auf ihm vor allem
Touristenschiffe.
