Henry Morgenthau junior (1891 - 1967) war von 1934 bis 1945 US-Finanzminister. Seine Großeltern waren jüdische Einwanderer aus Mannheim. Bekannt wurde Morgenthau in Europa vor allem durch den nach ihm benannten Morgenthau-Plan. Dieser sickerte im September 1944 nach einer Indiskretion durch: Ziel war es, das damalige Deutsche Reich nach Kriegsende in mehrere Staaten zu unterteilen, die jeweils demilitarisiert und zu Agrarstaaten umgewandelt werden sollten. US-Präsident Franklin D. Roosevelt verwarf diesen Plan jedoch.
Henry Morgenthau junior (1891 - 1967) was Minister of Finance of the United States between 1934 and 1945. His grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Mannheim, Germany. Morgenthau became well known in Europe for a plan named after him. The Morgenthau-Plan became public by indiscretion in September 1944: Goal of the plan was to split the German Reich into several states after the World War II. All states should be demilitarised and be agricultural states. President Franklin D. Roosevelt did not realise this plan.
