All the states, later founding members of Italy, and the Church had a very high demand for funds, especially Tuscany and its capital city

Florence. As well as the historical background and the age of the certificate, the design is very interesting. The Medici family gained

wealth from the banking business and attained sovereignty over Florence in 1434. At first they were titled Dukes of Florence (1531), fi-

nally Grand Dukes of Tuscany (1569). They became the wealthiest and politically most important Florentine family. So the name Medici

Alle italienischen Vorgründerstaaten (das heutige Italien entstand erst 1861 und 1870) und hier vor allem die Kirche, hatten großen Fi-

nanzbedarf. Dabei machte die Toskana mit ihrer Hauptstadt Florenz keine Ausnahme. Die Anleihe ist neben dem geschichtlichen Hin-

tergrund und dem Alter auch aufgrund ihrer Gestaltung interessant. Im mittleren Teil des Zertifikates ist das Wappen der Medici zu se-

hen. Die Medici waren durch Bankgeschäfte reich geworden und erlangten 1434, zunächst ohne Fürstentitel, die Herrschaft über Flo-

renz. 1531 wurden sie Herzöge von Florenz und 1569 Großherzöge der Toskana. So wurden sie schließlich zur reichsten und politisch

bedeutendsten florentinischen Familie. Der Name Medici wurde zu einem Synonym für ungeheuren Reichtum. Lesen Sie hierzu auch:
