 Die metallverarbeitende Industrie war bereits seit dem 17. Jahrhundert in Morgårdshammar zu Hause. Da im Zuge der Industrialisierung die Maschinenbauindustrie entstand und wuchs, stieg der Bedarf an gewalztem Eisen. Daher entstand 1856 das erste Walzwerk in Morgårdshammar. Dieses wurde ein Jahr später in eine AG umgewandelt. Durch die von Ernst von Zweigbergk umgesetzte Optimierung der technischen Abläufe setzte in den 1870er Jahren ein großer Aufschwung bei der Gesellschaft ein. 1894 gingen die Werksanlagen an die Morgårdshammar Mekaniska Verkstads AB über. Diese Gesellschaft ging in den 1970ern an Volvo und 1987 an den italienischen Stahlriesen Danieli & C. SpA.

 The metal-working industry was common in Morgårdshammar from the 17th century onwards. The need for rolled iron increased, because of the arising mechanical engineering industry during the industrialization. The was the reason for the creation of the first rolling mill in Morgårdshammar in 1856. The company was changed in a joint-stock-company one year later. The optimization of the processes, which was initiated by Ernst von Zweigbergk, let to a large boom at the company in the 1870s. The company plants were transferred to the Morgårdshammar Mekaniska Verkstads AB in 1894. This company became part of Volvo in the 1970s, and further to the Italian steel company Danieli & C. SpA in 1987.
