Die Mechanische Weberei am Mühlbach wurde 1887 von den Gebrüdern Schnell ins Leben gerufen. Bereits 1898 erfolgte die Umwandlung in eine Aktiengesellschaft mit einem Grundkapital von einer Million Mark. Die Firma war auf die Produktion von Damasten spezialisiert. Das Produktionsverbot von Luxusartikeln im Ersten Weltkrieg traf die Gesellschaft hart. Anfang 1918 wurde diese von der oberschlesischen Textilfabrik C. Dierig übernommen. Ab 1919 firmierte die Firma dann als C. Dierig-Werke am Mühlbach GmbH. Diese wurde 1928 wieder in eine Aktiengesellschaft umgewandelt. 1951 legte der Dierig-Konzern die Mechanische Weberei am Mühlbach mit den Webereien am Fichtelbach und am Senkelbach sowie den Spinnereien am Stadtbach und an der Wertach zusammen. Die Gesellschaft ist noch heute an der Börse notiert und neben dem Textilsektor auch im Immobilienbereich aktiv. | |||

The company was formed by the Schnell brothers in 1887. It was changed to a joint-stock-company in 1898. The company had a share capital of one million Marks. It was specialised to the production of damasks. The prohibition of production of luxury items during World War I hit the company hard. Therefore it was sold to the Upper Silesian textile works of C. Dierig. The name of the company was changed to C. Dierig-Werke am Mühlbach GmbH in 1919. This company was changed again in a joint-stock-company in 1928. The Dierig concern merged the Mechanische Weberei am Mühlbach with the weavery at Fichtelbach, and at Senkelbach, and with the spinning mill at Stadtbach in 1951. The company is still listed at the stock market. It is active in the textile business as well as in the real estate business. | |||
