Probably the most magnificent stock certificate! The well-known therapeutic bath Caldas da Rainha (thermal springs of the queen) was
founded already in the 15th century by the Portuguese queen Dona Leonor. Under the leadership of her husband Johann II Portugal be-
came the leading sea and colonial power of Western Europe. Caldas da Rainha was the favoured summer residence of the Portuguese
monarchs. The Fabrica de Faiancas was formed in 1884. The share certificate was designed by Raphael Bordalho-Pinheiro (1847 - 1905)
and shows many of his favoured animal motifs. The execution of the artwork is very complex, because 11 colours were necessary for the
print of the picture, whereas each single share certificate had to be printed manually. Minimum bid: 1.800 €

Das wohl prächtigste Historische Wertpapier!
Das berühmte Schwefel-Heilbad Caldas da
Rheina (Warme Quelle der Königin) wurde be-
reits im 15. Jahrhundert von der portugiesi-
schen Königin Dona Leonor gegründet. Unter
Führung ihres Gatten, Johann II wurde Portu-
gal zur führenden See- und Kolonialmacht
Westeuropas. Caldas da Rainha war die bevor-
zugte Sommerresidenz der portugiesischen
Herrscher. 1884 wurde hier die Porzellanma-
nufaktur Fabrica de Faiancas gegründet. Die
Aktie wurde von Raphael Bordalho-Pinheiro
(1847 - 1905) entworfen und zeigt viele der
von ihm bevorzugten Tiermotive. Die Ausfüh-
rung der Vorlage ist extrem aufwändig, da für
den Druck des Bildes 11 Farben benötigt wur-
den, wobei jede Aktie einzeln von Hand abge-
zogen werden musste.
