The company was founded in 1866. It opened the 33 mile long railroad from Montgomery to Kingston (New York) in 1872. The
company was reorganised under the same name in 1877. It was in ownership of the North River Construction Company. The rail-
road worked together with the New York, West Shore & Buffalo Railroad and the New York, Ontario & Western Railroad.
