The company’s roots goes back to a cotton printer founded by Johannes Apfel in 1702. This company was changed to a joint stock company in 1880. The Augsburger Kattunfabrik was liquidated after only 5 years of existence in 1885. But, on 12 January 1885, the Neue Augsburger Kattunfabrik was incorporated. Later the name of the company was changed to NAK Stoffe AG. It was the leading German textile printing company for a while. In 1996, the company went bankrupt.
