Die Gesellschaft wurde 1846 von Hipolit Cegielski als eine Werkstatt mit einem Metallwarengeschäft in Posen gegründet. Ab 1860 wurden Lokomobile produziert. Stephan Cegielski, Sohn des Firmengründers, wandelte die Gesellschaft 1889 in eine Aktiengesellschaft um. Am 1. November 1939 wurde die Firma an die Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken verkauft. Nachdem die Russen im Zweiten Weltkrieg sämtliche Fabriken demontiert und nach Russland verbracht hatten, wurde die Firma verstaatlicht und 1949 in Zakłady Metalowe im. Józefa Stalina w Poznaniu (Josef-Stalin-Metallwerke Posen) umbenannt. 1956 kam es zur Umfirmierung in H. Cegielski und es wurden fortan große Schiffsmotoren hergestellt. In den 1990er-Jahren kam es zur Reprivatisierung der Firma. |

The company was founded by Hipolit Cegielski in 1846. It was a workshop with a metal products shop in Poznan. The company started production of locomobiles in 1860. Stephan Cegielski, son of the company founder, changed the company into a joint-stock-company in 1889. The company was sold to Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken on 1 November 1939. After the Russians disassembled all factories and moved them to Russia during World War II, the company was nationalised and the name was changed to Zakłady Metalowe im. Józefa Stalina w Poznaniu in 1949. A further name change to H. Cegielski took place in 1956, when the company started manufacturing large ship engines. The company was reprivatized in the 1990th. |
