 Claus Spreckels (1828-1908) wanderte während des Goldrausches von Hannover in die USA aus. Später bersaß er für für drei Jahrzehnte das Zuckermonopol an der Westküste und erhielt er den Spitznamen The Sugar King.
History (English)
 Original signature of Claus Spreckels (1828-1908). During the gold rush years he emigrated from Hannover, Germany, to the USA. Later-on he held the monopoly for sugar on the West Coast and was nick-named the Sugar King.
