 Die Firma wurde bereits im Jahr 1834 von Friedrich Hensel in Halle gegründet. Die 1911 gegründete AG betrieb in Halle eine Kaffeerösterei und Engroshandel mit Kolonialwaren. Die Firma Fr. Hensel & Haenert existierte als Lebensmittel-Großhandlung in der Form einer Kommanditgesellschaft noch bis Anfang 1981.
