 Willam B. Astor (1792-1875) studierte in Göttingen und Heidelberg. Nachdem sein Vater gestorben war, erbte er einen Großteil dessen Vermögens und wurde zum reichsten Mann der USA. Er investierte vor allem in Grund und Boden.
