 Louis Bleriot (1872 - 1936) gilt als einer der berühmtesten Luftfahrtpioniere. Legendär wurde er dadurch, dass er als erster in einem Flugzeug den Ärmelkanal zwischen Calais und Dover überquerte. Damit verhalf er der Idee vom Fliegen zum endgültigen Durchbruch. Der Aufbau der französischen Flugzeugindustrie und die rasche Fortentwicklung dieses Verkehrsmittels in und nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg war im wesentlichen das Verdienst Bleriots. Der Pionier beließ es jedoch nicht beim Fliegen: Er wandte sich auch dem Bau von Automobilen sowie von Eisenbahn- und Schiffsmotoren zu. Das Bleriot-Automobil wurde jedoch nur in geringer Stückzahl hergestellt.

 Louis Blériot (1872 - 1936) is considered one of the most famous pioneers of the air. He became legendary, because he was the first person to cross the British Channel between Calais and Dover on an airplane. In that way, he helped to finally get the idea of flying accepted. It is largely Blériot’s desert that the French airplane industry was formed and that this means of transportation developed so fast during and after WW I. The pioneer, however, did not stop at flying: he also addressed himself to the construction of automobiles as well as railroad and ship engines. However, only a small quantity of the Blériot automobile was produced.
