Nachdem sich Morgan (1837-1913) sein Lehrgeld im Betrieb seines Vaters verdient hatte, zog es ihn bald an die Wall Street. Dort fiel er das erste Mal auf, als er 1869 gemeinsam mit Jay Gould und James Fisk die Kontrolle über die Albany and Susquehanna Railroad übernahm. Später glänzte er durch den Bau, die Reorganisation und den Betrieb zahlreicher Eisenbahnlinien. Um die Jahrhundertwende finanzierte er die beiden gewaltigen Trusts International Mercantil Marine und United States Steel. Noch heute gehört JP Morgan Chase zu den großen Finanzhäusern der Wall Street. | |||

After Morgan (1837-1913) had served his apprenticeship in his father's firm, he was attracted to Wall Street. There he attracted attention for the first time when took over control of the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad in 1869 in cooperation with Jay Gould and James Fisk. Later he stood out in the construction, reorganization and administration of numerous railway lines. Around the turn of the century he financed the two giant trusts, International Mercantile Marine and United States Steel. J.P. Morgan still today ranks as one of the great banking houses of Wall Street. | |||
