Am 27.08.1859 führte Edwin L. Drake in der Kleinstadt Titusville Oil Creek-Fluss im Crawford County, Pennsylvania, eine der ersten Erdölbohrungen durch. Drake begründete damit den Ruf der Stadt als Geburtsort des Erdölzeitalters. Die Union and Titusville Railroad wurde 1865 errichtet. Sie ging 1871 in der Philadelphia & Erie Railroad auf. | |||

Edwin L. Drake had on 27 August 1859 success in drilling oil in Titusville at the Oil Creek River in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. It was one of the first successful oil drillings. This was resulting in the birth of the modern oil industry. The Union and Titusville Railroad was built in 1865. In 1871 it became part of the Philadelphia & Erie Railroad. | |||
