Am 27.08.1859 führte Edwin L. Drake in der Kleinstadt Titusville Oil Creek-Fluss im Crawford County, Pennsylvania, eine der ersten Erdölbohrungen durch. Drake begründete damit den Ruf der Stadt als Geburtsort des Erdölzeitalters. Die Union and Titusville Railroad wurde 1865 errichtet. Sie ging 1871 in der Philadelphia & Erie Railroad auf. |
