Factos históricos (Inglês) |
The Verein zur Beförderung der bildenden Künste was founded in 1830. It was a private club in Vienna, authorized by the Emperor and responsible for supporting visual arts. The patron was Prince Klemens Wenzel Lothar von Metternich, the great statesman. Within the first weeks more than 500 members subscribed to the club, including the Emperor and the Empress. In the course of an exhibition selected works of national artists were bought and others raffled among the members. In 1871 the name of the club was changed to Gesellschaft für vervielfältigende Kunst, and in 1938 it was dissolved. |
