The offered certificate was part of a bond of the naval trade mini-
stry in Cadiz and had a volume of two millions reales. The bond
was part of a total bond of a volume of eight millions reales debi-
ting the city of Cadiz. Cadiz was the most important Spanish
trade and naval port at that time. The City of Cadiz needed the
money for negotiations with the government of Algeria.

Das angebotene Zertifikat war Teil einer Anleihe des Marine-
Handelsministeriums in Cadiz über zwei Millionen Reales. Die
Anleihe war wiederum Teil einer Gesamtschuldverschreibung
über acht Millionen Reales und ging zu Lasten der Stadt Cadiz.
Cadiz war seinerzeit der wichtigste spanische Handels- und
Kriegshafen. Das eingeworbene Geld wurde für Verhandlungen
mit der algerischen Regierung benötigt.
