History (German)
 Von 1833 bis 1853 war Erastus Corning Direktor einer der ersten US-Eisenbahnen, der Utica and Shenectay RR. Unter der Leitung von Corning wurden zahlreiche New Yorker Bahnen zur New York Central zusammengefasst und Corning wurde erster Präsident dieses gewaltigen Eisenbahn-Imperiums. Danach wurde er Bürgermeister von Albany, Senator und Kongressabgeordneter.
