 George Franklin Getty II (1924 - 1973) war der älteste Sohn von Jean Paul Getty (1892 - 1976), dem bedeutendsten Ölmagnaten des vergangenen Jahrhunderts und seit Beginn der 1960er Jahre der reichste Mann der Welt. George Franklin Getty II begann seine Karriere im Ölgeschäft im Jahr 1947 als Ölproduzent bei der Pacific Western Oil Company. Diese wurde später zur Getty Oil Company und George übernahm in dem Unternehmen die Funktion des Geschäftsführers. Leider überlebte er seinen Vater nicht, sondern starb bereits zuvor an einer Überdosis Drogen, die wohl eher als Selbstmordversuch gedacht und kein Unfall war.
History (English)
 George Franklin Getty II (1924 - 1973) was the eldest son of Jean Paul Getty (1892 - 1976), the most influential oil magnate of the past century and, from the beginning of the 1960s on, the richest man in the world. In 1947, George Franklin Getty II started his career in the oil business as an independent oil producer with the Pacific Western Oil Company, which later became the Getty Oil Company. Since 1967, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Getty Oil Company. Unfortunately he didn't survive his father and died earlier of a drug overdose in 1973, the result of a suspected suicide attempt rather than an accident.
