 Die Eisenbahn entstand 1868 als die gleichnamige Vorgängergesellschaft mit der St. Louis, Alton & Rock Island Railroad fusionierte. Das Unternehmen betrieb 292 Meilen Eisenbahnnetz zwischen Sterlin und East St. Louis in Illinois.

 The company was founded by the merger of the predecessor Rockford, Rock Island & St. Louis Railroad with the St. Louis, Alton & Rock Island Railroad in 1868. It operated 292 miles of railroad track between Sterlin and East St. Louis in Illinois
