 Bereits im 6. Jahrhundert wurde die Insel von Mönchen besiedelt. Nach der Erbauung der Basilika im 8. Jahrhundert wurde die Insel bald zur viel besuchten Wallfahrtsstätte.
History (English)
 Monks settled already in the 6th century at the island. After the construction of the basilica in the 8th century, the island became a popular place of pilgrimage.
