Geschichte
 Hobart Brinsmade begann seine abwechslungsreiche Karriere als Buchhändler in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Nach einigen Jahren ging er nach Elmira, New York, um dort für die Howe Machine Company die Leitung der Geschäfte im westlichen Teil des "Empire state" genannten Staates New York und im zentralen Teil von Pennsylvania zu übernehmen. Später ging er für dieses Unternehmen dann nach St. Louis, Missouri, wo er die Leitung des Geschäfts im Westen der USA übernahm. Nach acht Jahren verschlug es ihn dann ins Ausland, als er von der in Bridgeport, Connecticut, ansässigen Wheeler & Wilson Manufacturing Company in London mit der Führung deren europäischer Aktivitäten beauftragt wurde. Vier Jahre danach kehrte er nach Bridgeport zurück und arbeitete noch knapp zwei weitere Jahre als Geschäftsführer der Firma, bevor er nach St. Louis zurückging und Partner im Modegeschäft der D. H. King & Company wurde. Entsprechend wurde das Unternehmen in King, Brinsmade & Company umbenannt, ehe Hobart Brinsmade schließlich dessen President wurde und der Name noch einmal in King-Brinsmade Mercantile Company geändert wurde. Brinsmade war zudem in zahlreichen religiösen und karitativen Vereinigungen aktiv, so z. B. als Direktor der Young Men's Christian Association. Er war verheiratet mit Ella M. Brinsmade.
Geschichte (Englisch)
 Hobart Brinsmade first operated as a book dealer in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for several years. Afterwards he went to Elmira, New York, to assume the management of the business of the Howe Machine Company for the western part of the Empire state and also for central Pennsylvania. Later, he came to St. Louis, Missouri, taking general western management of the companies' business. Eighty years later, he went abroad as he accepted a position with the Wheeler & Wilson Manufacturing Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, to take charge of their European business with headquarters at London. After returning to Bridgeport four years later and working in the position of a general manager of the company for about another two years, he returned to St. Louis to become a partner in the wholesale millinery business of D. H. King & Company - under the firm name of King, Brinsmade & Company. In 1895, the business was incorporated under the name of the King-Brinsmade Mercantile Company with Mr. Brinsmade as its President. Brinsmade was further active in many religious and charitable organisations in St. Louis, e. g. as a director of the Young Men's Christian Association. He was married to Ella M. Brinsmade.
