 Mit 220 Kilometern ist der Isthmus von Tehuantepec im Bundesstaat Oaxaca die schmalste Stelle von ganz Mexico. Er bildet die Grenze zwischen Nord- und Mittelamerika. Die Gesellschaft unternahm 1853 einen ersten Versuch, an dieser schmalen Stelle den Golf von Mexico mit dem Golf von Tehuantepec auf der pazifischen Seite mittels Eisenbahn zu verbinden. 1857 erlosch die Gesellschaft, da eine Konzessionsauflage nicht erfüllt werden konnte.

 The isthmus of Tehuantepec in the state Oaxaca is with 220 kilometres the smallest position of Mexico. It is the border between North America and Mid Amercia. The company planed to build a railway from the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Tehuantepec at the Pacific. In 1857, the company was liquidated because a concession requirement was not fullfilled.
