 Julius Oppermann und Eugen Fischer hatten ein Patent auf das sogenannte Indigosalz, die Bisulfitverbindung des Orthonitrobetaphenylmilchsäuremethylketons. Die Paste konnte auf Gewebe aufgedruckt und durch Behandeln mit Natronlauge in Indigo überführt werden. Die Vermarktung erfolgte durch die Chemische Fabrik Kalle & Co., die das Patent offensichtlich irgendwann übernommen hatte.

 Julius Oppermann and Eugen Fischer held a patent for indigo salt and the process of dyeing with it. It was distributed by Chemische Fabrik Kalle & Co., which obviously had taken over the patent anytime.
