 In Folge des Börsenbooms im Jahr 1863 unter anderem durch den bedeutenden Bankier Michael E. Rodacanachi gegründet, stellte die Gesellschaft eine neue Form der Beteiligungsgesellschaften dar. Sie ist damit sogar noch älter als der 1868 gegründete und damit als älteste Beteiligungsgesellschaft angesehene Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust. Kapitalanlage-Gesellschaften dieser Art bzw. Investment Trusts tauchten in den USA erst weit später (in den 1890er Jahren) auf.

 As a result of the stock market boom, the company was co-founded by famous banker Michael E. Rodacanachi in 1863. It was a new form of an investment company and even prior than the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, set up in 1868 and known as the very first trust. Considering the situation in the US, this kind of trusts appeared only much later (in the 1890s).
