 Die Rentes Viagère waren das von den Königen im absolutistischen Frankreich am extensivsten genutzte Finanzpapier. Die ersten Anleihen dieser Art findet man kurz vor dem Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts. Bis zum Ausbruch der französischen Revolution wurden weit mehr als 100 verschiedene Emissionen begeben.

 Rentes Viagères were the securities that were used most extensively by the French absolutist kings. The first bonds of this kind can be found just before the end of the 17th century. Until the outbreak of the French Revolution far more than 100 issues were emitted.
