 Der Miami-Kanal erstreckte sich zunächst von Cincinnati, Ohio entlang des Ohio Rivers über die Schluchten von Mill Creek bis nach Defiance. Dort vereinte er sich mit dem Wabash und Erie Kanal. 1843 wurde dann die Erweiterung des Kanals beschlossen.

 The Miami Canal originally ran from Cincinnati, Ohio, along the Ohio River passing the gorges of Mill Creek and further to Defiance. At Defiance the Canal joined the Wabash and Erie Canal. The extension of the Miami Canal was decided in 1843.
