 Die Jewel Tea Company wurde bereits 1889 als Einzelunternehmen gegründet, jedoch erst 1903 in Illinois eingetragen. Zunächst handelte das Unternehmen ausschließlich mit Tee. Später begann die Expansion durch die Produktion von Backpulver und den Betrieb einer Kaffeerösterei. 1916 wurde Jewel Tea in New York eingetragen und die Aktien an der New York Stock Exchange gelistet. Bis 1981 vertrieb die Firma dann landesweit eine breite Palette an Haushaltsprodukten.

 In 1889 the Jewel Tea Company was started in Chicago, in 1903 it was incorporated in Illinois. First dealing with tea only, expansion began with further producing baking powder and roasting coffee. In 1916 the company was incorporated under the laws of New York and listed on the New York Stock Exchange too. Until 1981 it was offering a broad variety household products - nationwide.
