 Das New Yorker Verlagshaus wurde von Frank Moore Lupton (1854-1910) gegründet. Hatte er zunächst noch für S.W. Green gearbeitet, gründete er 1882 dann entsprechend seine eigene Firma. Neben der Tom Brown Series scheinen die von ihm veröffentlichten Bücher jedoch überwiegend "praktischen" Bezug zu haben: "The Popular Cyclopedia of Useful Knowledge", "Farm and Household Cyclopaedia", "The American family cook book" oder "One Hundred and Fifty-Six Popular Old-Time Songs". 1902 wurde der Firmenname in Federal Book Company geändert.

 The New York publishing house was founded by Frank Moore Lupton (1854-1910). First working for S.W. Green, he founded his own company in 1882. Beside the Tom Brown Series many of his published books seem to have been rather practical ones, like "The Popular Cyclopedia of Useful Knowledge", "Farm and Household Cyclopaedia", "The American family cook book" or "One Hundred and Fifty-Six Popular Old-Time Songs". The company way changed to Federal Book Company in 1902.
