 William Edward Boeing wurde 1881 als Sohn des deutschen Bergbau-Ingenieurs Wilhelm Böing geboren. Nachdem er 1903 sein Studium an der Yale University ohne Abschluss beendete, stieg er in den Holzverarbeitungsbetrieb seines Vater ein. 1916 gründete er die Pacific Aero Products Company, die er 1917 in Boeing Airplane Company umbenannte. Die US-Gesellschaft ist heute der führende Hersteller von Flugzeugen.

 William Edward Boeing was born as a son of the German mining engineer Wilhelm Böing in 1881. He joined the wood working company of his father in 1903, after he stopped his studies at Yale University. Boeing founded the Pacific Aero Products Company in 1916 and changed the name to Boeing Airplane Company one year later. The US company is the leading manufacturer of Airplanes.
