 Die Gesellschaft wurde am 25. November 1899 als Briseis Tin Mines, Limited gegründet. Sie erwarb ein 180 Acres großes Stück Land in Derby, Dorset County, Tasmanien. 1906 kam ein weiteres Grundstück hinzu. 1909 pachtete die Gesellschaft 2.112 Acres Goldfelder in Yackandandah und Sandy Creeks. Dies war auch der Anlass für die Umfirmierung in Briseis Tin & General Mining Company.

 The company was registered on the 25 November 1899 as Briseis Tin Mines Limited to acquire a 180 acres property at Derby, Dorset County, Tasmania. Another property was bought in 1906, and 2,112 acres gold-dredging lease, situated on the Yackandandah and Sandy Creeks was acquired in 1909. The name was changed to Briseis Tin & General Mining Company in 1909.
