 Oneida wurde von John Humphrey Noyes, einem US-amerikanischen Prediger und Frühsozialisten, gegründet. Dessen religiöse Kommune, die Oneida-Gemeinde, begann im Jahr 1899 unter dem Label "Community Plate" mit der Produktion von Silberbesteck und Gefäßen. 1935 in Oneida Ltd umbenannt, ist das Unternehmen heute einer der weltgrößten Designer und Anbieter von versilbertem oder aus Edelstahl gefertigtem Essbesteck und Geschirr - für den Verbraucher wie auch für die Nahrungsmittelindustrie. Hinsichtlich Letzterem ist es zudem der größte Anbieter in Nordamerika.

 Oneida was founded by John Humphrey Noyes, an American preacher and utopian socialist. Noyes religious commune, Oneida Community, started production of silver-plated flatware and hollow-ware in 1899 using the "Community Plate" mark. Renamed to Oneida Ltd in 1935, the company is one of the world's largest designers and sellers of stainless steel and silver plated cutlery and tableware for the consumer and foodservice industries. It is also the largest supplier of dinnerware to the foodservice industry in North America.
