 Der Name der Gesellschaft leitet sich vermutlich von dem Schlammvulkan "El Totumo" und einem nahegelegenen See ab. Beide liegen im Municipio Santa Catalina im Norden Kolumbiens. James Tynte Agg-Gardner (1846 - 1928) war ein englischer Brauereibesitzer und Politiker der Conservative Party aus Cheltenham in der englischen Grafschaft Gloucestershire. Er war ein früher Befürworter des Frauenwahlrechts.

 The company's name most probably refers to the region around the "El Totumo" mud volcano and the nearby sea in the municipality of Santa Catalina, North Colombia. James Tynte Agg-Gardner (1846 - 1928) was an English brewery-owner and Conservative Party politician from Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. More about that, he was an early supporter of women's suffrage.
