 Die Erie Railway ist neben der Central Pacific, der Union Pacific und der New York Central die wohl bekannteste und bedeutendste Eisenbahnlinie der USA gewesen. Bekannt wurde die Erie Railway durch die Kursmanipulationen bekannter Börsenspekulanten sowie durch den Erie-War von 1867/68. Hier kämpften Jay Gould, Daniel Drew und Jim Fisk auf der einen und Commodore Vanderbilt auf der anderen Seite um die Vorherrschaft bei der Erie-Eisenbahn. Sehr frühe Erie-Aktie aus der Zeit des Erie-Wars.

 The Erie Railway has been the most well-known and most significant railway line of the USA beside the Central Pacific, Union Pacific and the New York Central. The Erie Railway became famous because of the course manipulations of known stock exchange speculators, as well as through Erie War of 1867/68. This is where Jay Gould, Daniel Drew and Jim Fisk fought on the one side and the Commodore Vanderbilt on the other side for the domination in the Erie Rail-Road.
