 Die Bank wurde 1851 mit einem Kapital von 1,5 Millionen Pfund gegründet. Ihre Geschäftsräume befanden sich in der Threadneedle Street. Mehrere Jahre zahlte das Institut eine Dividende von 12 Prozent, geriet aber allmählich in Bedrängnis. 1886 wurde die Oriental Bank von der Oriental Bank Estates Co. Ltd. übernommen.

 The bank was founded in 1851 with a share capital of 1.5 million Pounds. The head office was in Threadneedle Street in London. For a few years the bank paid a dividend of twelve per cent. In 1886 the bank was bought by the Oriental Bank Estates Co. Ltd.
