 Zu diesem Bond erzählt man sich eine Begebenheit, die problemlos auch in die heutige Zeit übertragbar wäre: Ein Besitzer eines solchen Bonds der knapp 200 Einwohner beherbergenden "Stadt" Neosho Falls fragte einst beim ortsansässigen Kämmerer nach dem aktuellen Wert des Bonds. Die Antwort: "Gehen Sie mit dem Bond in ein Geschäft und lassen Sie ihn wiegen. Suchen Sie dann den aktuellen Preis für Altpapier - und schon kannen Sie den Wert."

 A long time before these days a Buffalo gentlemen, owning a $100 bond of the City of Neosho Falls, wrote to the local treasurer to ask for its value. He received the following reply: "Take the bond to a store and weigh it. Then find a market report containing the quotation of waste paper and you will know the value of your bond."
