The company, founded in 1835, proposed to build round about 25 miles of railway track from London to Gravesend, a port at the Tha- mes estuary. The line was to have a connection with the London and Greenwich Railway. This allowed the line to use its station in the borough of Southwark (now London Bridge station). Later in the year 1835, the company was replaced by the New Gravesend Railway Company. This company had some new directors, but all shares in the original company could be replaced by shares in the new compa- ny. But finally the Parliament declined to pass the bill for the later company, therefore it was liquidated. A rail service between London and Gravesend was finally opened in 1845. Die 1835 gegründete Eisenbahngesell- schaft versprach eine rund 25 Meilen lange Eisenbahnverbindung zwischen London und Gravesend an der Mün- dung der Themse zu errichten. Die Bahn sollte im Bezirk Southwark (heute London Bridge Station) An- schluss an die London and Greenwich Railway erhalten. Im Verlauf des Jah- res 1835 wurde die Gesellschaft durch die New Gravesend Railway Company ersetzt. Diese Gesellschaft hatte ein paar neue Direktoren, aber alle ur- sprünglichen Aktien konnten in Pa- piere der neuen Gesellschaft getauscht werden.
