The company was formed by the merger of the Compañia de Commercio y Fábrico de Toledo with the Compañia Real de la Extremadu-
ra in 1748. New shares were issued to finance the acquisition of land and the lay out plantations. Silkworms and mulberry leaves, shown
on the share certificate, show clearly the object of the company, which cultivated mulberry plantations, bred silkworms and produced
silk. The French Revolution affected the trade with the luxury good silk massively. This was the reason why the company went bankrupt.

Die Gesellschaft entstand 1748 aus dem Zusammenschluss der Compañia de Commercio y Fábrico de Toledo mit der Compañia Real
de la Extremadura. Die neuen Aktien wurden ausgegeben um weitere Ländereien zu kaufen und Plantagen anzulegen. Die auf dem Ak-
tienzertifikat abgebildeten Seidenraupen und Maulbeerblätter weisen eindeutig auf den Handelszweck der Gesellschaft hin. Sie kulti-
vierte Maulbeerbaumplantagen und betrieb die Seidenraupenzucht sowie die Herstellung von Seide. Die Französische Revolution wirk-
te sich katastrophal auf den Handel mit dem Luxusgut Seide aus, so dass die Gesellschaft in der Folgezeit in Konkurs ging.
