Im Jahr 1907 erhob sich mit der Canard die erste eigene Flugzeugkonstruktion von Louis Blériot in die Lüfte. Berühmt wurde er jedoch durch seinen am 25.07.1909 erfolgten Flug von Baraques an der französischen Atlantikküste nach Dover. Die Flugzeugfirma von Blériot entwickelte sich zu einem bedeutenden Luftfahrtkonzern, der allerdings 1937 verstaatlicht wurde.

However, he became famous for his successful flight from Baraques on the French Atlantic coast to Dover on 25.07.1909.
