 Die Gesellschaft war für die Eintreibung des Zolls verantwortlich und geht auf Alexander Hamilton und das Jahr 1799 zurück. Über das New York Customs House liefen zeitweise fünf Sechstel der amerikanischen Importe. Wenige Jahre vor Ausstellung der vorliegenden Anleihe gab es einen Korruptionsskandal, im Zuge dessen der von Präsident Abraham Lincoln eingesetzte Hiram Barney seinen Hut nehmen musste.

 The company was founded in 1790 by imitative of Alexander Hamilton. It was responsible for collecting the custom. Five sixth of all American imports of that time went through the New York Customs House. A few years, before the offered Debenture was issued, there was a corruption scandal. Hiram Barney, installed by President Abraham Lincoln, hat to leave the company.
