Die Gesellschaft entstand aus dem Zusammenschluss der „Hera“ Internationale Gesellschaft für Acetylenbeleuchtung mit der Allgemeinen Acetylengesellschaft „Prometheus“ in Leipzig (Klostergasse 3). Das neue Unternehmen hatte ein Grundkapital von 1,2 Millionen Mark. Die Firma errichtete 1898 die erste deutsche Acetylen Gasanstalt in Strelitz, nachdem ein Jahr zuvor die erste Acentylenzentrale in Totis, Ungarn, errichtet worden war. Ein Jahr später baute die Firma das Gaswerk zur Erzeugung von Acetylengas in Treptow an der Tollense. Treptow hatte damals rund 5.000 Einwohner, die Gasanstalt war 300 Meter vom Bahnhof entfernt. Sie war für 2.000 gleichzeitig brennende Flammen zu 32 Normalkerzen ausgebaut. | |||

The company was created by the merger of the “Hera” Internationale Gesellschaft für Acetylenbeleuchtung and the Allgemeine Acetylengesellschaft „Prometheus“ in Leipzig (Klostergasse 3). The new company had a share capital of 1.2 million Marks. The company built Germany’s first acetylene gas works in Strelitz in 1888, only one year after the worlds first acetylene gas works were built in Hungary. It built the gas works for production of acetylene gas in Treptow an der Tollse in 1889. Treptow had round about 5,000 residents at that time. The gas works was 300 meter away from the railway station. It was constructed for 2,000 simultaneously burning flames at 32 candle power. | |||
