 The certificate bears the original signature of Grenville M. Dodge (1831-1916) as president. Grenville Mellen Dodge was the chief engineer of the Union Pacific during the construction of the transcontinental railway. He was closely allied with Jay Gould during the construction of the Missouri Pacific Railway and the Missouri Kansas & Texas Railroad.
