 Die kanadische Firma wurde bereits 1895 von Alexander Graham Bell in Brantford, Ontario, als The Northern Electric and Manufacturing Company Limited gegründet. Hierin lagerte die Bell Telephone Company of Canada ihre Produktion von Telefonen, Feuermeldern und Notrufsäulen für Polizei und Feuerwehr aus. Zu Zeiten der New Economy um die Jahrtausendwende zählte der Ausrüster für Telekommunikationsunternehmen zu den großen Stars am Aktienmarkt. Die anschließende Krise überlebte die Firma nicht, 2009 ging sie in Insolvenz.
